The new owners at Aquarina are planning on building many very large condiminium units on the west side of A1A.
I feel that this would not serve the citizens of Brevard County, particurlarly those of south beach area, in a positive manner.
I will publish everything I hear on this site so please check from time to time. If you hear something please let me
know. Thanks, Bud Ford

Below is a copy of a memorandum from the Brevard County planning
and zoning board to Nancy Higgs office. As you can see there are a lot of provisions, changes, alterations and additions
that will be necessary before this can come up for a vote. In the meantime all of us must show our support for Nancy
and the Commission in stopping, or at least reducing the scope of this project. Please talk to everybody you know and
ask them for their support. Refer them to this website if you like. Thanks, Bud Ford, Melbourne Beach, Lighthouse
Cove.

Email message from CoCo, who first informed me of the problem:
Bud this is the response from the person who initially send me the information
about Aquarina. They attended the meeting on sunday at Aquarina about the new project ,she writes :
Yes, we went. They are starting to get more organized,
Nancy Higgs was there and says we need lots of evidence, like documentation as to the bad effect this will have on the environment.
We need lots of people to spresd the word , and write to the zoning commission. Call Nancy Higgs' office and they will advise
you what to do to help.
I sent an email to Nancy Higgs and this is the reply I received.
Thank you for your email to Nancy. You may have seen the notice in the paper that the County was having computer
problems last week and thus we didn't receive your email in a timely fashion. Nancy has asked for a staff report on
exactly what Aquarina is allowed to build on their remaining undeveloped property. They are zoned PUD (Planned
Unit Development). When we receive that information, I will send it to you. In the meantime, the Aquarina Residents
Association is having a meeting Sunday, June 23 to discuss the developer's plan. According to Tom McMullen,
who is with the association, anyone is welcome to come. You are asked to bring a chair, snack and drink. The
meeting will be at 5:00 at the Lakeside Pool. Go to the Guard House and they can direct you. Barbara Arthur
The following is a message from a resident of Floridana Beach.
What I heard Friday was that a lady I know ran in to Nancy Higgs and asked her about
it. Nancy says that at the beginning of Aquarina, don't know how many years ago it was It was zoned whatever. Don't know what
the zone name was. That zoning included future plans for a very large Hotel Which of course never happened So now with
these new developers, they supposedly have free reign to do the project they what UNLESS that could be reversed. It was grandfathered
in Wheter this is all accurate information, I have no way of knowing. I am just repeating what I was told. I will
try to contact the lady who originally mailed the info to me and see if she went to the meeting. Her property backs
up to Aquarina and she is very concerned. AND rightfully so, I'msure she attended the meeting and has
all the particulars. I will let you know. I'm sure that information for the zoning from way back when is available at
the property tax office and is public record.
